The Yellow Room at Gray Summit Christian Preschool is a warm, welcoming place where two-year-olds learn through short routines, simple group activities, and playful, guided experiences. We focus on sharing, taking turns, listening, and building basic self-help skills in a gentle, encouraging way. Calm, predictable transitions help children feel safe and confident throughout their day. This room is diaper and pull-up friendly. Our teachers model kindness, celebrate every little milestone, and work closely with families to reinforce routines and social progress at home.
The Blue Room at Gray Summit Christian Preschool is an active potty-training environment where children build physical independence, autonomy, and bodily awareness. This room supports most children’s transition from diapers and pull-ups to underwear for the first time through consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and compassionate guidance.
Children in the Blue Room practice simple self-help tasks—communicating bathroom needs, pulling clothing up and down, washing hands, and managing wipes—with patient coaching that encourages success and confidence. Teachers use prompt, predictable routines, gentle reminders, and individualized plans to meet each child where they are in the potty-training process.
Our approach emphasizes:
Physical independence: age-appropriate tasks that strengthen fine and gross motor skills needed for toileting.
Autonomy: giving children choice and voice in small ways to foster ownership of their progress.
Bodily awareness: helping children notice cues and understand basic hygiene.
The Green Room is our transition classroom for three-year-olds. This room reinforces skills begun at home and in the classroom, building confidence and consistency with gentle routines that ease the transition to a full preschool schedule.
Children receive frequent, predictable bathroom reminders, guided restroom trips, and positive, patient encouragement tailored to each child; diapers or pull-ups are kept only for naptime when needed. Simple routines are practiced throughout the day alongside short, playful circle times introducing letters, numbers, colors, and fine-motor activities, plus story time, songs, movement breaks, and hands-on learning centers.
Low teacher-to-child ratios, a warm, encouraging atmosphere, and calm handling of accidents ensure individualized support; staff share regular updates, celebrate progress, and coordinate practical strategies with families so each child becomes confident and independent with toileting and routines for a smooth move into full preschool.
The Red Room is for our older 3‑year‑olds to continue to grow in independence, curiosity, and classroom confidence. These children no longer need potty training support and are ready for a deeper dive into our preschool curriculum. In the Red Room we focus on social-emotional growth, foundational academic skills, and hands-on exploration balanced with play, music, and movement.
The Orange Room is our Pre-K classroom for children who will not meet the kindergarten age cutoff for that school year. These students receive focused curriculum, developmental assessments, and targeted support to build readiness skills. In the Orange Room we emphasize social-emotional development, language and early literacy, math and number sense, and fine and gross motor growth through hands-on learning, intentional play, music, and movement to prepare each child for the next step in their learning journey.
The Purple Room is our Pre-K classroom for children who meet the kindergarten cutoff and will begin elementary school. With a strong emphasis on kindergarten readiness, these students receive a focused curriculum, developmental assessments, and targeted support to ensure a smooth transition. In the Purple Room we prioritize social-emotional skills, language and early literacy, math and number sense, and fine and gross motor development through hands-on learning, intentional play, music, and movement—preparing each child to confidently take the next step into kindergarten.
